We have a documentary pilot in development looking at the lived experience of pregnant women and new mothers within the criminal justice system. Collaborating with Dr Laura Abbott (associate Professor in Research at The University of Hertfordshire) www.lostmothers.org. Laura is an inspiration and her important research is guiding reform in the UK's female prison system. With a new Secretary of Justice in place, reform seems much more likely but there is a long way to go. We will look closely at the system as it stands and also examine the alternatives to sentencing women and mothers for non violent crimes, exacerbating eddying cycles of disadvantage...
